UKK Institute, Centre for Health Promotion Research. The purpose of the UKK Institute is to promote public health. Through research, training and communication, the institute supports people in adopting healthy life styles.
The aim of the Institute is to promote physical activity and to reduce the number of injuries occurring at home or leisure. UKK-institute supports decision making that advances national health politics. Research, development projects, education and expert work is carried out on the following fields: promotion of functional ability and of health-enhancing physical activity in the elderly, reducing and preventing of overweight, obesity and related diseases, health promotion and improvement of health education provided by primary health care, prevention of bone fractures related to falls and osteoporosis and improvement of safety of physical exercise.
