Pilates for People in Pain

Aimed at therapists working with people who are in pain as a positive way forward to start to help themselves.
Contains exercises to gently encourage movement, promote good posture and correct faulty movement patterns that have naturally developed as a compensatory mechanism. The first aim is to help in the understanding of pain, particularly persistent pain. The second aim is to provide a management plan in order to reduce pain and work towards increasing function in a safe way. Research shows us that the nervous system is highly adaptive and ever changing. Understanding pain changes how people think about it and therefore leads to much more effective pain management.
